RBFS User Guides

The RtBrick Full Stack (RBFS) User Guides provide comprehensive documentation covering configuration and operational commands for the protocols and applications in RBFS.

The guides are structurally divided into the following categories:

  • Overview Guides: Provide operational details and insights into the RBFS Command-Line Interface (CLI) and the Brick Data Store (BDS).

  • Routing User Guides: Detailed guides for configuring BGP, IS-IS, OSPFv2/v3, Static Routing, LDP, BGP FlowSpec, BGP RPKI, route leaking, and Policy management.

  • Layer 2 Services Guides: Provide the necessary configuration and operational commands to set up Layer 2 virtual private networks and services on the RBFS platform.

  • Layer 3 Services Guides: Provide configuration and operational commands for implementing layer 3 networking functionalities within the RBFS platform.

  • OAM (Operations, Administration, and Maintenance) Guides: Configurations for link monitoring and fault management using CFM, BFD, Ping, and Traceroute.

  • Subscriber Management Guides: Detailed documentation for deploying RBFS as a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG), managing RADIUS services, Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), HTTP redirect services, Subscriber Filters, Lawful Interception, L2BSA, and subscriber redundancy (IPoE and PPPoE stateless redundancy).

  • Forwarding Guides: Configure basic physical and logical packet forwarding properties, including Interfaces, ARP/ND, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Port Mirroring, Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs), Hierarchical Quality of Service (HQoS), and LLDP.

  • Multicast Guides: Procedures for streaming media control via IGMP, PIM, and Multicast VPN (MVPN).

  • Security Guides: Provide configuration and operational instructions to safeguard and monitor the RBFS environment. They focus on protecting the management and control planes, enforcing local user access controls, and implementing protocol-level defence mechanisms like BGP FlowSpec, BGP RPKI, and sFlow.

  • Telemetry: Details data collection from various RBFS components to support monitoring tools, including TSDB (Time Series Database), Resmon (Resource Monitor), SNMP, and sFlow streaming.

  • Infrastructure: Focuses on essential system services such as NTP, clock synchronisation, system logging, LED control, IPMI, In-band Management, and DHCP Relay/Proxy operations.
