Local User Management Overview

Local User Management enables you to create, manage, and secure Linux local users and groups through the RBFS configuration using the RBFS CLI. This enables you to manage users and groups in the following environments:

  • In the RBFS container only for virtual platform

  • In the RBFS container and on the RtBrick Host OS for hardware platforms

Local User Management provides standalone authentication for console access, which is independent of external AAA servers such as TACACS+. For details about configuring TACACS+ for RBFS, refer to the Securing the Management Plane User Guide.

Supported Platforms

Not all features are necessarily supported on each hardware platform. Refer to the Platform Guide for the features and the sub-features that are or are not supported by each platform.
